Should I Stop Eating Carbohydrates?
Should I Stop Eating Carbohydrates? So let’s get straight to the point on this one – not all carbs are bad! Carbohydrates are one of the three main building blocks, also known as macronutrients, that make up all food. Protein and fat are the other two. These macronutrients are essential for the body to function. So can we please stop demonizing carbohydrates already? 🤯 Your body needs carbohydrates. Without them your brain, muscles, and body systems would struggle to function.
Carbs can be further split into three groups:
▪️Sugars
▪️Starch
▪️Dietary Fiber
Of course certain foods have more nutrients than others, and yes, the fibrous carbs are going to have the best overall impact on our health.
Carbohydrates are the body’s preferred source of fuel, craved by the brain and muscles to supply energy. It is true that restricting carbohydrates can lead to temporary weight loss, but it is not a long-term solution and can cause serious damage to the body. Too many women have failed trapped to the lie that if they stop eating carbohydrates they would loose weight. Anytime you restrict yourself you will “temporarily loose weight” but this is NOT a sustainable lifestyle. Many studies have proven that a long-term, low-carbohydrate diet shows no weight loss benefit after 3-6 months.
So Can you do me a favor, though? Seeing as food doesn’t have a moral value, can we stop using the words “good” and “bad” when it comes to what we eat? It’s not helpful, and I’d argue it’s actually harmful to our relationship with food. It’s possible to recognize the benefit that certain foods have without demonizing others to the extent of exclusion and restriction.
What About Toning up and Building Muscle?
In order to build muscle you need to eat a proper balanced diet that includes all of your macronutrients such as Proteins, Carbohydrates, and Fat. When you cut out your carbs off your diet, you will loose muscle and actually won’t tone up.
I am completely against restricted diets that all they do is make you loose the weight temporarily, to get it right back twice as much. In order to have a healthy life style, you need to learn to have self control and eat all of your food in the proper amounts for the goals you want to achieve. Portion control and self control!
So hear me out! If you want to get in shape and “tone up” your body, you must have a proper balanced diet (which includes Carbohydrates) and consistently exercise.
In the end, weight manipulation comes down to calorie control, not carbohydrates control. It’s all about self control and consistency 💪🏼👏🏻
